ABOUT OUR PROGRAM
Our banner program begins each year with applications that open on January 1st at 8 am!
First come, first serve.
Here is what you can do to prepare for applications to open on January 1st at 8 am.
Prior to applications opening on Jan 1st....To help with the application process please collect the following information to submit.
- Hero Name
- Hero Address/City/State/Zip
- Contact Person Name
- Contact Phone number
- Contact Email
- Contact Address/City/State/Zip
- Community Connection (How are they a Grand Island Hometown Hero....examples..were they born, raised, reside, or passed in GI?)
Other information needed (easiest found on a DD-214)
- Branch Served in
- Rank at Discharge
- Era served during
After the submission, we will have an information collection day where we will gather the below:
- 1 photo for the banner (an original we can scan for best quality if applicable)
- Payment for the banner $225.00 payable by check to Grand Island Hometown Heroes
An Online Link will be sent via email after your application is submitted. Please submit this information prior to Information Collection Day. The link includes the following:
- 3 photos for the slideshow presentation & website (can be military based or family)
- 3-15 photos for the Facebook album that will be created after the reveal ceremony
- A biography with a word limit (75-100 words)
