Donald Leisinger

Don enlisted in the Marines in 1943 at the age of 19. He was an expert rifleman and a qualified Bazooka Operator.

 

He served in the South Pacific in the Marchal Islands, Saipan, and Iwo Jima. While on Iwo Jima, he served multiple gunshot wounds. While he was being carried off the island, he saw the Marines Raising the United States Flag on Mount Suribachi.

 

Corporal Leisinger was honorably discharges in 1945.
