Larry Bagwell entered the US Army June 1971. He attended Basic and AIT training at Fort Ord, Monterey, CA. As part of the 82nd airborne, 5thspecial forces. Was stationed in Fort Benning, GA for parachute training. Reported to Oakland, CA to ship out last minute for replacements for the 101st Airborne. He left in 24 hours to an unknown location. Larry jumped from a plane into north Vietnam. He was taken into captivity for 9 months In the Quang Tri Province. After escaping captivity, he was stationed in Germany and promoted to an E5 Sargent. He was honorably discharged in 1975.
Larry worked as a truck driver in California, before moving to Nebraska in1985. He has 3 sons Josh, Casey, and Dakota. 2 daughters Elena and Sherry. Later marrying Jacki and adding 2 bonus sons, Taylor and Trevor and two bonus daughters Jazmine and Kailena. He also enjoys his time with 16 grandchildren after recently retiring from truck driving at Sunrise Express.
