Emil was born in December of 1918 in Sherman County, Nebraska. He farmed till he enlisted at the age of 23. He was a private in company “D” 52ndArmed Infantry Regiment at Fort Crook in Nebraska. He was honorably discharged due to a medical incident at camp in Funston, Fort Riley, Kansas in March of 1943.
He went back to farming when he got home. He married Arlene Anderson on October 6th, 1951 at St. Mary’s Cathedral. They had two children and were blessed with 3 grandchildren, 8 great grandchildren, and 4 great-great grandchildren.
He continued to farm till he went to work for the Grand
Island School District and retired after 11 years there.
He was a member of the American Legion for many years. They enjoyed eating at the club and playing pickle cards. He enjoyed many family get togethersand playing cards. He also liked feeding and watching the squirrels.
Emil passed away at the age of 83.
