Ivan Messersmith

SGT Ivan Messersmith, the youngest son of Shawn and Carol Messersmith of Grand Island. Ivan was a graduate of Heartland Lutheran High School in 2018 and had enlisted in the Nebraska National Guard before his senior year concluded.

Ivan served for six months in Afghanistan. He was a member of the Grand Island based Company B, 2nd Battalion, 135th Aviation Regiment.

Following his deployment, Ivan enrolled at the University of Nebraska at Lincoln majoring in Civil Engineer.

He loved his family. He was known for his wonderful smile. Ivan left this earth on November 11, 2020.
