SGT Korbin Espeland enlisted in 2019 after graduating from Northwest High School in 2017. Completing OSUT Infantry Training at Fort Benning prepared him for a career of service and dedication. SGT Espeland was then stationed at Fort Carson as a soldier of the distinguished 4th Infantry Division serving as a M240B machine gunner with distinction. There he received numerous accolades for his achievements including Best Machine Gun Team alongside his assistant gunner and attended the Fort Carson Machine Gun Academy to become a subject matter expert on the utilization, tactics, and employment of automatic weapon systems.
From 2021-2022 SGT Espeland was deployed to Baghdad, Iraq in support of Operation Inherent Resolve. During his deployment, SGT Espeland earned the Gold German Marksmanship Cord, Norwegian and Danish ruck march pins, and the coveted Combat Infantryman Badge. Throughout his service, Korbin has been recognized with multiple military badges and medals demonstrating his skills, professionalism, and contributions to his unit and the mission. Korbin continues to serve his community as a member of the Nebraska National Guard in Kearney with the 2nd Battalion 134th Airborne Regiment, with the support of his parents, Keith and Jodi, as well as his sister Elise and wife Annelise.
