Shelby Eyten was born in Grand Island, Nebraska on January 4, 1992. He graduated from High School at Centura Public School in 2010. Shelby is married to the love of his life, Diana. They were married in 2011 and blessed with two beautiful daughters: Adalynn and Kaizley. He enlisted in the Navy on June 29, 2017, under the delayed entry program. He left for bootcamp on January 4, 2018. Upon completing bootcamp, he left for Aviation Ordnanceman A School at The Naval Air Technical Training Center at Naval Air Station Pensacola, Florida.
After A School graduation, he was assigned his active-duty station with the USS Abraham Lincoln CVN 72 in Norfolk, Virginia. Shortly after arriving to his first duty station, he went on his first deployment which was an ‘Around the World’ tour with a homeport change to San Diego, California. This was a record breaking 10-month deployment for the aircraft carrier in 2019. Shelby deployed for a second time in 2022 where they operated in the South China Sea and Philippine Sea and conducted joint exercises with the Japan Maritime Self-Defense Force.
Towards the end of his second deployment, he also participated in exercise Rim of the Pacific (RIMPAC) where they trained alongside 26 nations. Some highlights would be during his first deployment he participated in the crossing of the line ceremony where he became a shellback when he crossed the equator, he got the opportunity to swim in the Arabian Sea, and during his second deployment his ship was used for filming in the new Top Gun. His active-duty military status ended January 3, 2023. He now lives in Lincoln, Nebraska and works at Duncan Aviation. He enjoys spending his free time working on his 1992 Ford Mustang. He also enjoys hunting and spending time with family.
