Marcus Martinez

Corporal Marcus Martinez, a graduate of Grand Island Central Catholic, served in the United States Marine Corp during Operation Iraqi freedom. 

On October 12, 2004 Corporal Martinez was wounded by a mortar missile at Al-Taqddum Air base located outside of Fallujah. He was transported to Germany, and then Walter Reed Medical Center in Bethesda, Maryland where we spent months recovering from his wounds. 

He was presented with the purple heart decoration during his stay at Walter Reed. He served from 2001-2006 After retiring from the Marine Corp, Corporal Martinez graduated from the University of Creighton with a bachelor's degree in science.

He lives in Omaha, with his wife Amy, and three boys, Jaxson, Hudson, and Camden. He enjoys golfing, fishing, and everything baseball with his boys.
