Richard Cosh was born on November 14, 1931. He was involved in choir, glee club and was a member of the golf club. He graduated from GI Senior High in May of 1949. He was the only child of Andrew and Emma Cosh.
Richard entered the army on January 15, 1952. He served with the143rd Field Artillery Battalion of the 40th Infantry Division. He was a radio man and forward observer.
He shipped out on June 13, 1952 for Lawton, Washington, and was then sent to the Far East. He was killed in action on November 4, 1952 at Heartbreak Ridge. Richard received the Silver Star Medal for gallantry in action beyond the call of duty.
