Roger Schleicher

Roger Schleicher was born in Grand Island, NE. He attended Grand Island Senior High and graduated in 1965. After Graduation, he enlisted in the United States Navy at the age of 17, the day before he turned 18.
He served with the Navy from 1965-1968. Roger attended A School in Millington; Tennessee for Jet Mechanics then went to BA-144 Squadron aboard the USS-Kitty Hawk. During his service he took 3 tours to Gulf of Tonkin his job was to fix jets. During his service he saw many places some include Hong Kong, Japan, Philippines, and Hawaii.
Roger says “The worst part was sending jets out with pilots you knew and neither one came back.”
Roger was honorably discharged in August of 1968.
