Hi, I'm Jerry Hirschman. I grew up on a farm near St. Paul NE. I joined the Navy in 1965 as a member of MCB74 Seebees Battalion. Da Nang, Vietnam for my 1st tour and 2nd tour was at Chu Lai. I put in for Refrigeration and ran an Ice House. When you have ice, you can trade for anything. My Ice House was a place where you could feel comfortable and forget about the war for awhile. We had Pinup Girls and Football Pennants. I wanted to get people's minds off the war for awhile. I "traded" Ice for lots of things. My favorite memory was making a 6 ft tall, 100# popsicle. That's how I got the name ICEMAN. Upon my return to the States, I got married and had 2 children. Later on, I married my wife, Patti and gained another 3 children. For the next 52 years, I worked for Frymire Heating and I am now totally retired. In our Military Family, we have 2 Sons and a Grandson in the Air Force; a Daughter, 2 Son-in-laws, and a Grandson in the Army. We are very proud of our Military Family.
