John Michael Briseno has lived a life of service, dedication, and community. Born on February 17, 1929, in Grand Island, Nebraska, to Rosalio and Maria, John has always been deeply connected to his hometown.
In high school, he was part of the "Green Terror Gang," known for their positive impact on the community. Drafted in 1951, John served in the Korean War as a Private First Class with the 10th Division, 8th Regiment, 3rd Battalion, Company K, exemplifying courage and commitment until 1953.
After his service, John married Mary “Lola” Delores Ramirez in 1954 and built a successful career, working 35 years with the US Postal Service. He later returned to college at UNK and worked for Grand Island Public Schools for 20 years. John also spent time coaching youth baseball, leaving a lasting impact on the community.
At 96, John remains in Grand Island, surrounded by his loving wife and family: children Victoria, John Jr., Ann, and Roxanne; eleven grandchildren; seventeen great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild. His life is a testament to service, resilience, and love for family and community.
