Josie Young's journey began in Odessa, Texas, in 2002, relocating to Grand Island, Nebraska, setting the stage for a life filled with purpose and adventure.
In 2003, driven by a desire to serve her country, Josie enlisted in the Marine Corps Delayed Entry Program, departing for basic training in August 2004. Her enlistment marked a proud milestone not only for herself but also for her family.
Her first experience aboard an airplane was a memorable one, as she flew to South Carolina for boot camp.Upon successfully graduating from basic training in December 2004, received her orders to North Carolina, where she underwent Basic Infantry Training followed by Supply Course Training at Camp Johnson. She was assigned to Okinawa, Japan.
During that time she demonstrated her commitment and resilience by deploying to Korea twice. After completing her tour in Japan, Josie was stationed at MCRD Parris Island, achieving promotions to Corporal and Sergeant.
Josie's final duty station at Camp Pendleton saw her deploy to Afghanistan, where she faced the challenges of combat and leadership head-on. In 2013, after receiving an honorable discharge she returned to Grand Island. Her service not only reshaped her own life but also inspired those around her.
