Mikel Schlick had his mind set as early as a pre-teen to serve his country. He was proud of his Grandpa Ted Schlick for serving in the Army during the Korean War and wanted to follow in his footsteps by carrying forward the family honor when he was of age to enlist.
When the military conversations were many, including his grandpa sharing his own military stories, Mikel knew this was his destiny. Mikel wanted to make his grandpa proud by serving. He couldn't wait to tell him his plans to enlist in the USMC. When sharing with grandpa, his grandpa asked him 'Why the Marines, that's the toughest branch?' Mikel told his grandpa, he wanted to prove to those that said he couldn't do it and wouldn't make it, that he could; and to make his grandpa proud of him.
Mikel's Grandpa Ted (and Grandma Mary) was beyond proud of Mikel for his military accomplishments. Mikel was active duty for 4 years and remains on inactive duty until August of 2025. He is the owner of MAS Construction and doing well for himself with his 4-legged best friend, Wrangler, at his side.
