Sergeant First Class Roger Goettsche is the son Roger & Barb Goettsche of St Paul. He graduated from St Paul High School in 1988. During his 22 years of service in the Army he served at various overseas and stateside locations to include Bad Kissingen Germany, Ft Carson, Colorado (twice), Camp Hovey Korea (twice), and Ft Sill, Oklahoma. He also served for 3 years as an Army Recruiter in Lincoln, Nebraska. In addition, he completed combat tours in support Operation Desert Shield/Storm as well as Operation Iraqi Freedom. Roger held many positions in Field Artillery from Advanced Party to Platoon Sergeant ending his career as the Battalion Master Gunner.
During his service, Roger was awarded the Bronze Star Medal, 2 Meritorious Service Medals, 6 Army Commendation Medals, 8 Army Achievement Medals, 7 Good Conduct Medals and numerous other awards. He also earned the Army Recruiter Badge, the Combat Action Badge and the Master Gunner Badge.
Roger currently lives in Grand Island with his wife Erin, they have 5 amazing children and 3 grandchildren. He works at the Grand Island VA Medical Center in Veterans Transportation Service as a driver.
